09/09/2026 @ 09:42

A free event that is being held in Llanfyllin next week will bring together local services and resources to help people make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

The ‘Keeping Healthy in Powys’ project is a joint initiative between Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board and will be held in Llanfyllin Public Institute on September 17 from 10am-2pm.

The event will give local people the opportunity to find out what support is available in their communities, speak directly with local organisations and access practical advice and information.

Cllr Richard Church, Cabinet Member for Legal and Regulatory Services, said: “These events are a great opportunity for people to come along, have a chat and find out more about the local support, advice and services available in their community.

“Everyone is welcome, so please do drop in, meet the organisations taking part and see what help is available to support your health and wellbeing.”

Mererid Bowley, Executive Director of Public Health, Powys Teaching Health Board said: “Your health is one of your greatest assets. Every positive step you take, whether it’s maintaining a healthy weight, choosing a balanced diet, being more physically active, reducing your alcohol intake, or stopping smoking - is an investment in your wellbeing that can bring lifelong benefits.

“Remember, you don’t need to change everything at once. Small changes can make a big difference, and every positive step counts. Come along and meet the team to see how they can help you.”

The event aims to:

  • Increase awareness of local health, wellbeing and support services.
  • Connect residents with organisations and community groups.
  • Provide information and advice to support healthier lives.
  • Strengthen community links and collaboration across Powys.

Everyone is welcome to attend, speak with participating organisations and find out what support is available locally. Free refreshments will also be available.

Those already taking part in the events include, PAVO, Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board, Care & Repair, and many more.

Organisations that wish to take part can sign up for free by emailing healthprotection@powys.gov.uk
