Welshpool Hospital campaign steps up ahead of tomorrow’s decision

A Welshpool county councillor was joined by Welshpool Hospital League of Friends members and supporters to garner support to stop dramatic cuts at the health facility.

Tomorrow, Powys Teaching Health Board are expected to decide to back proposals to downgrade Welshpool Hospital, removing the beds facility as well as the X-Ray and Minor Injuries units.

It is part of the health board’s plans to centralise North Powys health services at a new hub to be built in Newtown, but has faced stiff opposition locally.

Cllr Carol Robinson visited the Livestock Market on Monday with a group of fellow hospital supporters to garner support as well as gather signatures for a petition.

MyWelshpool understands that a number of people are travelling down to the meeting tomorrow from the Welshpool area, but you can also access the meeting online by clicking here.
