Eleven properties, including two disused Methodist places of worship and a property in Meifod, sold for nearly £1.6m at the latest in a series of successful collective auctions in Shrewsbury on Friday.

Top seller in Halls auctioneers’ 12-lot auction was 5, Upper Linney, Ludlow, a Grade II Listed, four bedroomed townhouse with fantastic views over the popular South Shropshire town, which raced away from its guide price to sell for £285,000.

The two disused places of worship with conversion potential, subject to planning consent, were Bettisfield Methodist Church, Cadney Lane, Bettisfield, near Whitchurch and Blackford Methodist Chapel, Thorn Lane, Stoke Street, Milborough near Ludlow which sold for £86,000 and £52,000, respectively.

Two Mid Wales properties also sold well. Wigwam, Ynyslas, Borth, a detached, timber framed, bungalow requiring renovation on a 0.44-acre plot overlooking Borth & Ynyslas Golf Course and 100 metres from the beach, was purchased by a Mid Wales buyer for £158,000.
The bungalow has provided seaside holidays for family members and friends for 62 years, having been purchased by David and Beryl Pocock, of Shrewsbury, in 1964 on their silver anniversary.

The other was 2, Penyffridd, Pont Robert, Meifod, a one bedroomed cottage requiring renovation and refurbishment, with two paddocks of around one acre, which sold £180,000 – £30,000 above its guide price.

Halls director James F. Evans said: “We are delighted with the continuing success of our collective property and land auctions. It just goes to show that if you have the right property at the right price, it will sell at auction.

“There is no substitute for knowledgeable valuers who carefully manage the type, value and suitability of properties for auction.”

Halls’ next collective property and land auction is on Friday, July 24. To enter a property or parcel of land contact the company on Tel: 01691 622602.
