Walking football a non-starter

It may be the latest sporting craze to hit the UK but it seems walking football is not for the people of Welshpool.

Welshpool Town Football Club officials were planning a walking football tournament as their contribution to supporting the Town Council organised Festival of Sport on Sunday – but the event is now cancelled due to a lack of interest.

All age groups were being welcomed to give the sport a try but not enough have come forward to show an interest.

A disappointed Welshpool Town chairman, Russell Cadwallader said: “Unfortunately due to a lack of interest the walking football on Sunday has been cancelled.
