Tight at the top
There’s an early season title chase taking shape nicely in the Spar One following another tense round of weekend action.
Both Llanidloes and Welshpool picked up three points to ensure just a point separates the two former League of Wales heavyweights.
Welshpool won 6-1 at Kerry while The Daffs beat fellow title hopefuls Llanfair United 3-1. Llanrhaeadr kept in touch with the top two thanks to a 5-0 win against Tywyn Bryncrug.
Elsewhere, Berriew suffered a 5-0 reverse at Knighton on Friday and Carno were stunned at a resurgent Aberaeron.
In Spar Two, Llansantffraid Village hit five at Penybont while Abermule returned from Brecon empty handed.
It was a frustrating day for Guilsfield who fell off the Huws Gray Alliance title chase following a 3-3 draw with bottom side Llandudno Junction, who earned their first point of the season. It could have been worse too but for Louis Irvine’s injury time leveler for the Guils.
The performance of the day was saved for Caersws who climbed out of the bottom two with a 2-0 victory over Flint Town United thanks to goals from Steve Blenkinsop and Luke Sherbon.
