Four sent off - team walks off

A football match ended in farcical scenes on Tuesday night when a manager called his remaining players off the field with four already sent off.

Experienced referee Huw Jones ordered two Gresford players off in each half against Guilsfield in a Huws Gray Alliance match played at Park Hall, Oswetsry.

With the opposition down to nine men Guilsfield scored what looked like an 89^th minute winner to make the score 2-1 but Gresford boss Steve Halliwell, who had himself been sent to the stand, ordered the rest of his side to the dressing room in protest at two further dismissals.

The visitors thought there was a foul in the build up to the winning goal and both clubs will now have to give their version of events to the FA of Wales after the referee was forced to abandon the game in the final minute.

League secretary Chas Rowland said: "We have to wait until we have all the information before we decide what steps to take. It's far too early to say yet."
