Local sides are enjoying 2018, with the return to league action on Saturday seeing brilliant wins for both Welshpool and Cobra in Division Two (north).
There was high drama at Welshpool who were trailing 15-10 to Bangor at home with the clock ticking into added time.
But a tremendous final effort saw Ben Gutteridge cross the line and veteran campaigner Andrew Thomas hold his nerve to kick the winning conversion.
It was no less than Welshpool deserved, keeping in mind that they lost 74-0 to the North Walians in the away fixture not long ago.
Tries from Ryan Goodwin and Harry Davies kept Welshpool in touch throughout an absorbing contest, before Gutteridge and Thomas took centre stage for the vital win.
The win pulled Welshpool closer to Newtown at the lower half of the table after their neighbours lost 31-12 to Cobra, who cemented their fourth position.
Cobra’s tries came through Richard Jones (2), Lloyd Bright and Hywel Jones for the bonus point win.
