31/05/2019 @ 11:45

Berriew’s Hazel Wilson has overseen the Wales Ladies Bowls team to more success at the Atlantic Championships in Cardiff.

Following an impressive team event, the ladies lost in the triples play offs to England, but the pairs topped their group and came home with a bronze medal after losing to South Africa.

Wales finished fourth overall out of 23 countries in the ladies with the men winning two bronze medals in the singles and fours to finish fifth.

The recent performances mean Wales have qualified in all disciplines to compete at World Bowls on the Gold Coast in May 2020.

But fist up, the Welsh Women will go to Jersey to compete in the British Isles and International Series from June 15-18.

More locally, Newtown will represent Wales in the Over 55s Fours, and Berriew will play in the Open Fours.

On July 18-19. Berriew Bowling Club will be hosting a Test Match against the Australia Commonwealth Games Team.
