Runners-up honours for Berriew bowlers

Berriew bowlers were forced to settle for commendable runners-up honours after storming to the final in the British Isles Seniors Series in Jersey at the weekend.

The quartet of Nerys Lewis, Isobel Jones, Caroline Taylor and Hazel Wilson were representing Wales after winning the Welsh Women's Bowling Association Links Championships in Carmarthen.

The Berriew team triumphed over hosts Jersey before beating Scotland in a hard-fought semi-final. But in the final England proved just too strong for the Welsh girls, winning by four shots.
