Butler on top

It’s all change at the top once again in the Newtown Premier League with Mitch Butler moving to top spot, a point and a game in hand clear of Mark Layton and Gareth Ashley.

Butler made his move after a draw with Layton before beating Nathan Dobson 4-1, hitting the highest checkout of 157 in the latest round of action.

James Bradford and Adam Joseph kept up their good form with wins over Kacey Jones and Paul Bordewey respectively. Neil Astley also had a win on the night, defeating Dobson 4-1 in a high class encounter.

Two wins for Ashley moved him into joint second place, beating Ewan Jones and Katie Bellerby. Jones beat Dave Rix earlier on in the evening and there were wins too Robin Shingler Steve Price and Chris Hurds.

The six qualifying positions are wide open as Garry Jones bounced back to form defeating Sean Barnett.
