Nine Montgomeryshire clubs will feature in the new Tier 3 North East League which has been revealed by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) this afternoon.

The 2020/21 season promises some mouth-watering derbies with Berriew, Caersws, Carno, Four Crosses, Kerry, Llanfair United, Machynlleth, Montgomery Town and Welshpool Town all included.

They will join Bow Street, Cefn Albion, Chirk AAA, Corwen, Penparcau, Penycae and Rhos Aelwyd in the 16-team new division, which is one of four that will feed into the Tier 2 Cymru North League which features Guilsfield and promoted Llanidloes next season.

The league replaces the former Mid Wales Division One set-up, with Llandrindod Wells and Rhayader joining the new South East League.

The rest of football’s local pyramid system, which will include the likes of Llansatffraid Village, Abermule and Forden United, will be confirmed in the coming days by the Central Wales FA.
