Football clubs can expect to return to football by the end of July after the Football Association of Wales gave the green light to summer football.
Seasons normally start mid-August, but with Covid-19 cancelling most of the action over the past year, the FAW’s National Leagues Board (NLB) has confirmed the start dates for National Leagues competitions for the 2021/22 season.
They have stated that the leagues can start earlier due to the likelihood of a third wave of Covid-19 this winter which could again disrupt the season.
“Therefore, the FAW is looking to maximise the playing opportunities where possible in the 2021/22 season, whilst taking into account the possible threat of further interruptions to competitions,” a spokesperson said.
