Welshpool High School finished the term on a high as they took multiple Powys football titles in the run up to Christmas.

The U18 Boys were the first team to take a title, with a 5-4 victory over Ysgol Bro Caereinion courtesy of goals for Alex Siddi (2), Harry Jones, Ryker Turney and Charlie Williams.

Next up were the U12 Boys (pictured right by Phil Blagg), who defeated Newtown in a thrilling game under the lights at Welshpool. The scoreline ended 7-3 with four goals coming from star player and captain, Teddy Langford, with Will Sarling, Olly Blagg and Leonardo Davies adding the extras.

The final week of term saw two more finals. First up was the U15 Boys final, with Welshpool taking a 6-2 victory over Ysgol Llanfyllin thanks to goals from Robin Bishop (2), Ollie Brooks (2), Will Gannon and an own-goal.

The final game saw the U13 Boys beat Ysgol Bro Caereinion 6-0 with goals coming from Alexander Morrison, Ben Turner (3) and Jac Grigg (2).

All four teams now progress to the last-16 in Wales, with the next round of games being played after Christmas.

“As a school, we are particularly proud of how our football teams have performed this year. To take four out of a possible five titles in the boys’ section is quite an achievement and we look forward to seeing how far they can now progress in the national rounds,” the school’s PE department said in a statement.
