Division One going right to the wire

02/04/2026 @ 12:28

The end of the Welshpool & District Darts League is set for a thrilling climax with only one match to go in the league programme, writes Steve Lloyd.

Division One is by far the closest we have seen in a long time.

Only one game in it with the Kings Head in pole position on 86 points and the Compass A on 85 points.

The Kings Head A have a tricky one at the Pheasant while the Compass A host the Oak, Guilsfield.

It is all to play for at the bottom also. The Oak have 41 points, The Red Lion Llanfair are on 42 points, the Westwood Aare on 44 points and the Punchbowl are on 45 points.

Two will be relegated.

In Division Two, the Powis Arms A are already promoted and, barring a disaster, will be champions as they are seven points clear of the Black Lion.

Only a further three points behind, the Black Lion is Castle A so second spot is still not guaranteed.

The Powis Arms A will travel to the Grapes A needing a point to become champions while the Black Lion host Castle Awith The Black only needing three games to ensure runners-up spot.

At the bottom, The Lion Caerhowel have already been relegated to Division Three while the Red Lion Misfits find themselves five points behind the Grapes A.

Two will be relegated.

In Division Three, The Breidden have already achieved promotion and are five points clear of the Angel B who look likely to get runners up spot being five points clear of the Horseshoe, Arddleen. Holding up the league is the Castle Bwith a respectable 44 points showing how high the standard is this year.
