Classic Lanes Road Rally set for June

28/04/2026 @ 09:44

One of the region’s favourite annual sporting events will be held in June, with organisers expecting a bumper event and entries opening this week.

The Classic Lanes Road Rally, held in memory of former organiser Gill Wood, is taking place on the June 13/14.

This no-nonsense, competitor-focused event will start and finish at the Kings Head, Meifod, and will feature 75 miles of carefully selected roads and classic rally territory.

Designed by competitors, for competitors, the Classic Lanes returns with a blend of patches not used in many years combined with hallmark classic sections that the event has come to be known for.

As was a highlight in previous years, there will be two runs of the special test at Mick Jones’s Timber yard, Caebardd, near Guilsfield.

“This year we are very grateful for the support received by Callum Hughes Machinery and Phillip Paul Car Centre,” a spokesperson said.

Last year the organising team raised £1,648 for the Montgomeryshire Lingen Davies Trust and this year’s chosen charity is Sands, a charity that focuses on saving babies lives and supporting bereaved families.

“Whether you’re a seasoned road rally expert or an enthusiast looking to tackle a proper driver’s event, the Classic Lanes Road Rally promises a fast-flowing, enjoyable night of motorsport,” the spokesperson added.

Entries open Thursday (April 30) at 7pm.
