MyWelshpool shortlisted for award

16/01/2016 @ 11:49

MyWelshpool has been shortlisted for a national honour in the Welsh Media Awards for 2016.

Along with our sister site MyNewtown, we’ve been named on a shortlist of three in the Independent Community News Service section of the awards organised by the Journalists’ Charity to celebrate and promote great journalism in Wales.

The Wales Media Awards aim to celebrate journalism produced in Wales and are open to all journalists, photographers and camera operators based in Wales who publish or broadcast work of Welsh interest.

In drawing up the shortlist the judges said they were looking for entries which were compelling, revelatory, in the public interest, informative, exclusive, and/or entertaining.

The shortlist takes into account the level of journalistic skill, professionalism and effort employed to bring new information to light, or the efforts, ethically and legally, the journalist has taken to bring their story to life.

The awards will be presented at a prestigious awards ceremony on March 4th hosted by broadcaster Huw Edwards at a gala black tie evening at the Mercure Holland House Hotel, Cardiff.

MyWelshpool and MyNewtown are competing with the Caerphilly Observer and Aberystwyth EGO for the honour as Independent Community News Service provider of the year.
