A growing local business has been given a social media vote of approval from one of the most popular former ‘Dragons’ from the hit show Dragons’ Den.

Sporting Hares, described as an iconic British countryside brand based in Berriew, has been picked by the millionaire investor Theo Paphitis as the winner of the Small Business Sunday (#SBS) competition, founded by Paphitis in 2010.

With over 5,000 entries each week, Sporting Hares, founded by Marc Brown, 27, impressed with their dedication to product quality and uniqueness.

“It's great to see Small Businesses receiving recognition,” said Marc: “It’s even more impressive when that recognition is off a serial entrepreneur such as Theo Paphitis.”

Small Business Sunday is a Twitter competition hosted by the retail magnate, who is worth an estimated £200m, where companies and brands explain in one tweet to Paphitis the core of their business. Six companies are selected as winners and invited to join the exclusive #SBS Winner's Club.

Previously the Welsh Border Golf Club was an #SBS winner back in January 2013.

Paphitis was a popular part of the panel on the popular show, but left in February 2013.
