OTMS (47)
A good show of otm cattle this week seeing at top of £1362.84 (164ppkg) for a Limousin otm cow weighing 831kg from G Jones & Son, Yr Ogof. G I Francis & Co, The Bryn, presented a 894kg Limousin cow making £1332.06 (149ppkg). Younger cows 48-72 months topped at £1223.04 (156ppkg) for a 784kg Charolais from J A Williams, Llechwedd-Ddyrys. Also from the same home another Charolais cow weighing 742kg making £1150.10 (155ppkg). Heifers under 48 months topped at £979.08 (164ppkg) for a 597kg Limousin from D P Evans, Moel Y Garth. V E Lewis, The Garn, presented a 556kg Limousin heifer making £906.28 (163ppkg).

PRIME CATTLE (16)
An entry of 16 Limousin prime cattle from C J Davies & Son, Waengwyn, sold to an overall 196.62ppkg selling to a top of 207ppkg for a Steer weighing 555kg.
PRIME HOGGETS (3902)
An entry of 3902 prime hogget’s sold to an overall average of 187.40ppkg.
Lights (338) to 188ppkg from J E Thomas, Graigwen. Others to 185ppkg from J E Owen & Co, Gilfach. Average of 158.65ppkg.
Standards (1087) to 237ppkg from BL Griffiths, Lower Penygelli. Others to 213ppkg from CL & C Watkins, Bank Farm. Average of 182.83ppkg.
Mediums (1495) to 270ppkg from TH Vaughan & Son, Maes Mochnant . Others to 224ppkg from WG Jones, Cwmduggan. Average of 194.89ppkg
Heavies (651) to 244ppkg from S Smith, Pentre Farm Cottage. Others to 230ppkg from E L Evans, Derlwyn. Average of 184.65ppkg
Over Weights (173) to 196ppkg from S Smith, Pentre Farm. Others to 181ppkg from C Wildig, Bretchel Farm. Average of 168.09ppkg.
CULL SHEEP (2261)
Today saw a large entry of 2152 cull ewes achieving an average pf £44.81 (+£2 on previous week). Ewes of good fleshing and confirmation were in great demand. Ewes topped at £130 from DJ & MY Evans, Tandderi. G & M & A Jones, Cefndre, sold ewes to £126. And CL & C Watkins, Bank Farm, sold to £125. Mules which were of good meat were in the £80’s.
An entry of 97 cull rams averaged £53.82 topping at £122 from BL Griffiths, Lower Penygelli.

COWS AND CALVES
A small entry of 6 cows and calves met with a solid trade. 4 Blonde x 1st calves with a Limousin x bull calves at sold from £1380 to £1550 presented by MR Williams, Wern Holding, Pool Quay. Two ten year old Limousin cows with a Limousin calf and a British Blue x calf at foot sold for £1200 and £1100.
STORE LAMBS
A good entry of 1240 store lambs this week selling to an average of £48.41. Top price went to L E Brymer Griffiths & Co, Bryneira, Old road Dolfor, presented Suffolk x lambs topping £81.00. D W Davies, Penybank, Llanbadarn Fynydd, presented Texel x lambs topping £74.00. Wether Mule Lambs topped £69.50 from RR & CA Jenkins, Moydog Fach, Golfa. Theave Lambs topped £64.00 for texel x from E M Evans, Dolafon, Pont Robert.
