PRIME HOGGETS (3411)
A slightly larger entry of hoggets forward sold to a reduced trade throughout to return an average of 193.70ppkg, with a top price of 233ppkg for pen of 41kg hoggets making £95.50 from RA Davies, Llwynderw, and £115/head for 63.50kg hoggets from the same home.
A few more hoggets forward sold to less demand throughout at price levels similar to other livestock markets late last week. However better quality hoggests continue to attract keen bidding throughout at price levels well above current deadweight prices. Best trade of the day was for the middle weight hoggets (32-39kg) with quite a few of these going back on farm for further finishing as the store lamb trade remains strong. Most difficult to sell were the heavier weight hoggets especially the thicker fleshed types. Overall trade would be very similar to this time last year.
