The entry of lambs forward sold to return an average of 166.43ppkg, with a top price of 205ppkg for pen of lambs weighing 43kg making £88 from BE & BE Langford, Llettymeibion, and £103.50/head for 80kg lambs from FW Humphreys & Sons, Brook House Farm.
A slightly smaller number of lambs forward, sold to an improved trade throughout, which was an improvement on other local and national livestock market prices from late last week. Again better quality, better bred lambs were in most demand selling up to 205ppkg with other good pens selling between 190-200ppkg. Heavier weight lambs were also, again, in better demand especially the 55+ kilo lambs which would regularly sell above £90/head. Middle weight / export weight lambs also sold to a generally better trade as did the lighter weight 32-38 kilo lambs with some of the better bred ones of this weight going back onto farm as store lambs. Trade for 30kg and below lambs would be similar to last week with more of these types (especially hill bred ones) on offer. Most difficult to sell today were any over fat lambs of any weight, so Vendors are encouraged to keep drawing their Lambs regularly.
