Staggering mywelshpool figures

13/09/2011 @ 10:26

Just when you thought our reader figures couldn’t increase any further, mywelshpool has welcomed even more traffic to the site over the past month compared to the month previous.

The latest figures released by Google are in stark contrast to those released by the body that monitors newspaper sales which showed local titles suffered a collective slump once again.

And the most encouraging statistic from Google Analytics is that nearly one in three mywelshpool readers has now ‘bookmarked’ the site to access directly as opposed to going through search engines or being referred by sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Despite it being a relatively ‘quiet’ month news-wise and many people spending less time at their computers due to holidays and the school break, nearly 9,000 readers logged on an incredible 30,428 times throughout the month.

“The support from the communities in and around Welshpool continues to be staggering and the figures speak for themselves that this is the way people like to receive their local news these days,” said co-founder David Williams.

“It is particularly pleasing to see that readers are bookmarking the page in greater numbers too so they can access their news even quicker. We really do feel like we have been embraced by the community we serve and we will continue to do our best to provide the latest news and sport as it happens free of charge.”

Advertising space on the site has nearly sold out but there are still some opportunities available for local businesses to share their message with their next customer. Despite the massive increase in traffic, advertising rates have remained the same since Day One with reductions offered to long-term advertisers.
