Tourism businesses across Mid Wales are being encouraged to get involved in Wales Tourism Week from February 27- March 4 by organising or supporting an event.

A series of events has been arranged across the country to celebrate the week in Wales, as part of British Tourism Week, which aims to raise local, regional, national and international awareness of the size, value and importance of Britain's £115 billion visitor economy.

Tourism is the fifth largest industry in the UK, employing around 2.6 million people. During the week, MPs, Welsh Assembly Members and local councillors will be invited to visit tourism businesses in their constituencies to better understand the importance of the industry in their area. Jobs in tourism account for 10% or more of total jobs in over 130 MPs’ constituencies.

Wales Tourism Week, organised by the Wales Tourism Alliance, focuses on is attractions and activities large and small, which attract millions of visitors to the country every year. As the week includes St David’s Day, there will be double cause for national celebration on March 1.
