Local newspaper sales slide again

28/02/2013 @ 07:16

Local newspaper sales have recorded another alarming slide, according to industry figures released last night.

Total circulation for the UK’s paid-for regional newspapers fell by 6.4% year on year on the second half of 2012, with local titles also hit.

According to the Audit Bureau of Circulation, the Shropshire Star lost 9.3% of its readers in that six-month period, while the County Times saw its sales slide 4.5% to 14,396 weekly sales. The Oswestry Border Advertizer lost 4.8% to 8,325 copies.

But while the newspaper industry struggles, MyTown Media Ltd is pressing ahead with development and expansion with some good news!

We won’t tell you everything just yet, but what we can share is that after considerable investment, smart phone and tablet users are going to love us even more! All will be revealed in the coming days so watch this space!

And for your information, for the month of January, the combined unique visitors to MyWelshpool and MyNewtown swelled to almost 22,000 while the visitor numbers to new sister sites MyRadnor and MyBrecon continue to grow following their launch in December.
