Montgomeryshire MP, Glyn Davies (right), Newtown Mayor, Joy Jones, and local television celebrity, Sian Lloyd (below), all jointly launched a new era for news reporting in the Newtown area today.
Mynewtown.co.uk follows on from the hugely successful mywelshpool site, which yesterday recorded its record high for visitors with more than 1,150 computers logging on.
Mywelshpool was launched in August and has quickly established itself as a primary source of news, sport, business and features for the market town and its surrounding towns and villages.
And its success has encouraged its co-founders to expand the brand into neighbouring Newtown with more town’s firmly fixed on the company’s radar.
Mynewtown has been warmly welcomed by the business community which has rushed to book advertising space, and its launched attracted a star-studded cast from the local population.
Cllr Joy Jones said: “I am so pleased that we have the opportunity to share in this website as I feel with the advances in technology this is the way many people like to get up to date information. Congratulations to the people behind this site. I feel it will be a great assist to our town.”
Mr. Davies described the expansion into Newtown as “wonderful news for Montgomeryshire” while Sian said she was “delighted” because “I can now keep up to date with what’s happening at home no matter where I am!”
Mywelshpool has enjoyed staggering growth since its launch less than four months ago. It exceeds 100,000 for every 30-day period and receives over 20,000 visits a month.
