Burgess Land Trust launches grants scheme

04/11/2011 @ 12:06

The Burgess Land Trust is celebrating 250 years since it was created by an Act of Parliament by launching a new grant scheme to help the young and elderly in Welshpool, Trewern, Guilsfield and Castle Caereinion.

The Trust, which has a primary objective of maintaining Town Council properties and a second objective of helping the poor and needy, will extend its reach to the young and elderly and organisations are invited to step forward and request funding.

Town Clerk Robert Robinson explained: “If you are involved in a group which is for the young or elderly maybe this small grants scheme can help.”

Grant applications will be assessed on the following basis:

·         The group must benefit the inhabitants of either (or all of) Welshpool, Trewern, Guilsfield or Castle Caereinion.
·         The group must help the youth or elderly of the area.
·         The grant can be used for revenue, capital or investigation purposes.
·         The grants would normally be no more than £250 per group.
·         The grants are a one-off payment.
·         Applications must be with the Trust no later than January 14, 2012.

The application forms are one side of A4 paper and take just a few minutes to complete.
