Giving back to Children’s Hospital

26/01/2017 @ 06:54

He’s become one of Welshpool’s best known characters, but Carl Gannon has taken a somewhat different appearance in recent months.

However, all that is about to change as Carl has declared that his caveman beard will be coming off with money raised going to a charity that is literally close to his heart.

“It’s coming off next month for Birmingham Children’s Hospital,” said the 27-year-old. “I had a heart operation there when I was six-years-old. It was open heart surgery when they put a patch over the hole in my heart so I owe them a lot. This is my way of giving back.”

Carl is well known for his charity support and is also a staunch supporter of Welshpool Town Football Club. His infamous ‘dance-offs’ at Molto’s have become the stuff of local legend and he is now asking for local people to dig deep to support his latest fundraising effort.

“People keep telling me it has to go so now is the time. I hope those people will support me in raising money for such a good cause,” he said.

The beard is set to be shaved off at The Angel on February 25, but you can sponsor him in the meantime at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Carl-Gannon .
