‘Bag it, bank it’ fire lads say

Welshpool’s firefighters are appealing for people in the area to ‘bag it and bank it’ in their bid to help people in distress across the UK.

To mark 75 years of the Firefighters Charity, firefighters are promoting the #bagitandbankit campaign to raise as much money as possible from textile recycling in 2018.

The Charity supports over 5,000 beneficiaries a year through a wide range of services including rehabilitation, health and well-being, nursing and mental health.

“The charity’s advice, information and support service supports individuals in the community covering areas such as social care, advocacy, financial support, home adaptions, equipment provision and bereavement support,” said a spokesperson from the station. “The Charity handles cases on a national basis and is close to the hearts of all of us at the Welshpool station.”

Bag it and bank it urges local residents to donate their old clothes, shoes and bags and leave them in the station’s yellow clothes bank positioned at the front of the fire station.
