A large crowd turned out in glorious weather for the traditional Tanatside Hunt Boxing Day meet in Welshpool town centre this morning.
A lively pack of hounds and about 25 riders of various ages made their way from the Royal Oak through hundreds of cheering supporters, maintaining a tradition that has run in the town for generations.
A handful of orderly protesters opposing the hunt made their opinions known on placards, which were courteously acknowledged by senior members of the hunt at the front.
Hunt organisers hope that the large Boxing Day crowds across the country will encourage lawmakers to loosen their stance on the tradition.
