It’s a live music weekend bonanza

Welshpool and Guilsfield will be buzzing with live music as the Bank Holiday weekend looks set to be a lively one!

The gigs get underway at the intimate venue of the White House, Moel y Garth, near Guilsfield (SY21 9DA), on Saturday night when the talented Steve Pledger performs his live show to a limited audience. Admission is strictly ticket only and can be booked through 01938 554 858 or here.

It should provide a quality prequel to what we can expect on Sunday when the Festival of Music will be rocking Welshpool’s foundations across seven town centre venues from 1pm-11pm.

The Talbot, The Pheasant, Monkey Puzzle Café, The Westwood, The Bay Tree, The Wellington and The Angel will all be hosting music throughout the day with the headline acts confirmed as: The Quirks (Talbot), Platform Zero (Pheasant), Chasing August (Angel), John Hughes (Wellington), Barry Williams (Bay Tree) and Karnival Knowledge (Monkey Puzzle).

“We’re really excited with the acts that we’ve got playing and the variety of styles and genres on display and we’re looking forward to a great day of live music,” said Barry Williams, one of the organisers, who confirmed that as well as a host of quality local acts, there will be a number performing from North Wales and the Midlands.

But if live music isn’t your thing, popular DJ Lawrence Chapple-Gill will be spinning classic dance anthems from 5pm into closing time at The Westwood.

There appears to be something for most musical tastes, and don’t forget local singer song writer Steve Edwards will also be performing at the Oak, Guilsfield, from 4pm on Sunday.
