Volunteers are starting to trickle in for an initiative that will prevent items in the town being sent to landfill.
Welshpool Town Council is hosting a Repair Café on October 19 (1pm-5pm) when experts will be on hand to carry out minor repairs and share DIY tips across an array of trades.
It is all part of the town council’s climate change policy to encourage recycling and avoid items being sent to landfill.
“We’ve got a few volunteers so far covering minor bike repairs, computer diagnostics, woodwork and electricals, and two potential seamstresses, but we need about 20 to make this work,” said Cllr Nicola Morris.
Similar events have been held in other towns with one taking place this Saturday in Oswestry, and it is hoped that the Welshpool event will become a regular fixture.
It will take place at the The Old Gym Building (opposite Tesco), with all welcome to attend and it is free (although a donation would be welcome).
