A series of archaeological and historical talks and exhibitions from local groups will be staged by Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust in Welshpool on October 5.

The Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust Day School will take place between 9-30am and 4-30pm at The Royal Oak Hotel to celebrate a year of discoveries in Welsh archaeology.

“2019 has been an important year for archaeology in Wales – with new discoveries, new projects, and new partnerships flourishing,” said a spokesperson.

“To give you a taste of what has been happening, the Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust is pleased to welcome you to Welshpool for a series of archaeological and historical talks, along with exhibitions from local groups.

“The talks, by experts who have spent many years researching in both the Clwyd-Powys region and across Wales, will include features on excavations from prehistoric to medieval and beyond.”

Confirmed speakers include: Dr Paul Belford, Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust - Beacon Ring Excavations 2019; Bill Britnell, former Director Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust - Neolithic tombs and houses in the Breconshire Black Mountains; Andrew Davidson, Gwynedd Archaeological Trust - 2019 in Gwynedd Archaeology; Ken Murphy, Dyfed Archaeological Trust - 2019 in Dyfed Archaeology and Kathryn Laws, National Trust - Chirk Castle Excavations 2019.

All tickets include tea and coffee on arrival. Price reductions apply for Friends of CPAT, and members of CBA Wales or CIfA.

Alternatively, tickets can be paid for by cash, cheque, or bank transfer to CPAT, using the attached booking form. Please return forms to our office at 41 Broad Street, Welshpool, Powys, SY16 2QR.
