Minister visits housing development

01/10/2019 @ 08:53

Mid-Wales Housing Association and Pickstock Homes Ltd were visited by Eluned Morgan AM, Minister for International Relations and the Welsh Language, to one of its housing developments in Welshpool.

The Assembly Member had arranged to visit the site at Clos Gungrog and Bron Gungrog, Welshpool as part of a visit to the area.

She said: “It was fantastic to visit the development and to see first-hand the great work being done here by Mid-Wales Housing Association and Pickstock Homes Ltd. For many young people, the idea of home ownership has seemed an almost impossible challenge. The Welsh Government knows how tough it can be and is committed to giving support where it matters.

“It was great to see that 14 of the 54 properties on the Clos Gungrog and Bron Gungrog project are being built under our Rent to Own Programme - an initiative designed to support those who can afford to buy, but are struggling to secure a deposit.

“I’m proud that we’re leading the way in developing new co-operative and mutual solutions to housing needs, making more and more properties available for rent and part-ownership across both urban and rural parts of Wales, through a wide range of innovative support programmes.”

The development of 54 homes of 2, 3 and 4 bedroomed properties, including 9 two bedroomed bungalows is located close to the Flash Leisure Centre and Welshpool High School in an attractive position between the canal and open countryside.

The homes are being developed with Pickstock Homes Ltd., and with significant funding assistance from the Welsh Government. All properties will have private gardens and will be built to the most modern standards of thermal and energy performance.

The development programme is anticipated to take just over two years to complete with the first stage of the development expected to approach completion towards the end of this year.

Those who would like further information or to be considered for the new homes can contact the Allocations Officer at Mid-Wales Housing on 0300 111 3030 or email info@mid-walesha.co.uk
