Trewern and Middletown County Councillor, Amanda Jenner, has been adopted as Conservative candidate for Ceredigion.

The Powys councillor was revealed last night as the Tory candidate to fight for the Plaid Cymru held seat.

She was also a shortlisted candidate for the Montgomeryshire constituency which will be fought by Craig Williams for the Tories.

“I am absolutely delighted to be the Conservative candidate for Ceredigion,” she tweeted. “Me and my husband met at Aberystwyth University and I have such great memories of being there.

“I’m ready to start campaigning and get chatting to residents.”

Plaid Cymru's Ben Lake took the Ceredigion seat in 2017, beating Liberal Democrat Mark Williams by just 104 votes. Plaid had held the seat in 1997 and 2000 before Mr Williams took it in 2005, holding it until 2017.
