Songwriters Session returns

Welshpool Songwriters Sessions returns this Friday to the Monkey Puzzle Cafe with a top notch bill from across the country.

Opening the show will be Barry Williams (pictured), the Welshpool-raised, Shrewsbury-based singer-songwriter.

Having become a solo artist after the end of his last band, One Crow Sorrow, Barry has been playing across Mid and North Wales and Shropshire for the past year, with over 60 performances under his belt in the last 12 months.

He released his debut single 'Any Day We Choose' in December 2019 and is preparing for the release of his debut album, 'Open Book' in June.

Runcorn’s Gareth Heesom is described as being one of the most authentic sounding country songwriters around.

People love the deep warmth to Gareth's voice. Having been described as Springsteen does The Beatles, and a cross of Dylan and Bon Jovi, Gareth has a great vocal range and the ability to flow between soft and gentle songs to the big, thunderous foot stompers.

Josh Beddis is a Carmarthenshire-based singer-songwriter who has been making massive strides within the UK Country scene in the past year. He released his latest EP, 'One For Sorrow', in September 2019 which has gathered rave reviews along with his live performances.

Taking a modern view on traditional country, his songs touch the heartstrings and provide for an excellent night's entertainment at the same time.

Since the first show in October 2018, the Welshpool Songwriters Sessions have hosted many of the top names in the UK Country Music Scene, including British Country Music Awards winners Danny McMahon and Stevie O'Connor, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Shantelle Ogden, up and coming talents such as Emily Lockett, Megan Lee and Simon Clulo, as well as providing a stage for local talents such as Dai Robs, Abi Foster, John Hughes, Cathy Beech, Sonya Smith and Karnival Knowledge, amongst many others.
