We turn 10 today!

13/08/2020 @ 09:23

Ten years have gone by with the blink of an eye!

Is it really 10 years since we switched the ‘on’ button? But what a journey we have been on together since.

It has been an honour for us to serve the Welshpool area over the past decade by transforming the way that you receive your news and information.

Ten years ago we were sure that we had the right formula to place our area at the cutting edge of the industry. The media evolution from print to online was gaining traction but there were only one or two hyperlocal news sites of note in the whole of the UK.

The big national media companies were still dominating the market so it was a huge step for an independent entity to gate crash their party.

But we had done our homework. Our market research showed that the Welshpool area was consuming more news and information online but residents were becoming concerned about the news black hole that was emerging over the whole of Mid Wales with widespread cuts being made to the industry. We were in danger of being the forgotten land.

But all of that changed overnight on Friday, August 13 (yes, Friday the 13th!) 2010 when we burst onto the scene.

The rest, as they say, is history but we would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank-you to you, our loyal readers, who have travelled with us through one of the most turbulent decades in the area’s history.

Your constant support makes the sites what they are today – one of the UK’s leading hyperlocal news services.

We would also like to pay tribute to our advertisers whose incredible support ensures that the sites remain FREE to the user. Many are local independent businesses who have supported us, and all we ask is that you help by supporting them.

So please enjoy our day with us. Over on social media we are sharing 10 ‘did-you-knows’ through the day and we’ll also raise a glass of something bubbly tonight to toast all of our collective health….

Here’s to 10 more years, at least!
