Andrew proves life has no limits

31/10/2020 @ 11:12

Andrew Paddison has proved that “limitations shouldn’t stop you doing anything in life” with a grueling 500-mile trip around the Scottish Highlands riding an adapted handbike.

The achievement was remarkable considering Andrew, who lives just outside Welshpool was born with no right leg, two short arms and a curved spine.

And now you can see the adventures of “Team Paddision on a Youtube video and also still donate to the chosen charity of Safe Lives.

“We were riding for Safe Lives, a charity aiming to end domestic violence,” said Andrew. “Covid-19 had resulted in a rise in domestic violence. Whilst training I was listening to the Emma Barnett Show on Radio 5 and was emotionally moved by a story relating to domestic violence after which I was determined to raise money for the charity.

“I would consider this the toughest handcycling ride I have ever done, both physically and mentally. Some may say last year’s Lands End to John o Groats must be harder, however longer does not imply tougher.

“We called the video ‘Life without Limits’ because I firmly believe limitations shouldn’t stop you doing anything in life and many people are far worse off than me.

“We must always remember we volunteered for this torture, this mental challenge, this physical abuse we put our bodies through, however some are less fortunate and do not and should not be subject to domestic violence,” said Andrew.

“If Team Paddisons fortitude has helped in a small way, we all will be grateful.”
