Montgomery Walking Festival dates

16/07/2021 @ 11:52

The popular Montgomery Walking Festival, postponed in 2020, will take place on the weekend of October 2-3, it has been announced.

All walks are free but booking is essential with a maximum of 16 walkers per group, and some of the walks are already fully booked.

The “Offa’s Dyke Circular” walk on October 2 is a relatively flat ramble through lovely parkland followed by tranquil farmland paths and a section adjacent to Offa’s Dyke.

The “Heritage Walk” on October 3 has some uphill walking to visit the Iron Age fort plus Montgomeryshire War Memorial high on Town hill with spectacular views and the fascinating ambiance of Montgomery, and the leader will keep the group entertained with stories about them all.

Jill Kibble, from Walkers are Welcome Montgomery, said: “Arrangements will be kept under constant review to ensure compliance with regulations, and detailed joining information will be provided in early September to those who have booked.

“The benefits of being outdoors have been recognised throughout the lockdown, and an outdoor activity of this nature is now considered very low risk.”

Full details and booking for remaining spaces are available at www.MontgomeryWalkingFestival.co.uk
