Despite rising Covid-19 cases across the area and concern over pets' well-being, Welshpool Town Council has confirmed that its annual fireworks extravaganza will go ahead on Saturday night free of charge!

The council has taken the decision that the town could do with a celebration after a tough 18 months and confirmed this morning to MyWelshpool that it is all systems go. Gates at Maesydre will open at 6pm for a 7pm start.

“Welshpool Town Council is absolutely delighted that we are able to stage our fantastic fireworks again this year,” said Town Mayor, Alison Davies. “The last year was tough for many people and it’s great that events are taking place again.

“As usual there is no charge for entry, but we’d really like your donations, as they will help to make next year’s event great, too. There will be a food van and doughnuts as well as a bouncy castle."

No dogs or other pets will be allowed on the site and there is only limited parking for blue badge holders with the advice to park in town and walk down.
