Club pays tribute to Kate

Welshpool Town Football Club has marked the loss of one of the club’s biggest supporters by renaming the Maesydre Recreation Ground canteen.

Kate Hardy Gill died last year after a long battle with a brain tumour and before last night’s Lock Stock Ardal North East League game the club unveiled a new canteen and sign “Kate’s Kitchen” in her memory. Kate was to be found in the canteen on match days.

Kate’s husband Dean said: “Kate was a tireless worker for the club and I want to say thank-you so much to Welshpool Town Football Club for the new sign in memory of my late wife which now sits pride of place on the new canteen.

“Kate did so much for Welshpool juniors and seniors and it’s fitting the club wanted to show their appreciation of her tireless work for the club.
“Many of the younger lads coming through now all know her and now they will continue to do so. Thanks to everyone at the club for this kind gesture myself boys & family appreciate it very much.”
