A sporting estate has raised nearlt £17,000 for a local cancer charity.

Guests to Bettws Hall, Bettws Cedwain, have donated funds to Lingen Davies Cancer Fund throughout the sporting season which will go toward enhancing cancer treatment, services and support for people throughout the area.

Naomi Atkin, CEO of Lingen Davies, said a very big thank you to everyone who had given donations, and to Ann Evans and her family, who own the venue, for running the collection.

"The money raised by the Bettws Hall collection will go directly into the current appeal which has so far built three brand new clinic rooms in the Cancer Centre, and we are now on a final push to fund a new CT scanner for patients.

"Both of these developments mean more people can be seen on a daily basis in the Centre, helping to address the ever-growing numbers of people needing our services."

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund was established in 1979 to bring cancer care to the county. Since then a dedicated cancer facility - the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre - has been created at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital providing excellent services, treatment and care for patients across Shropshire and Mid Wales.

It is estimated that more than 100,000 people have been treated in the Centre and benefited from the work of the charity.

Bettws Hall raised funds for the charity throughout the sporting season with a number of activities including a White Pheasant Raffle, sponsored bike rides, three peaks challenge and the generosity of the sporting community, all collating to an amount of £16,809.
