Council welcomes grant funding

Grant funding has been sourced to renovate steps and create a garden outside Welshpool’s Tourist Information Centre.

Welshpool Town Councillors last night noted and approved a grant of £9,510 from the Powys Local Nature Partnership to complete the work.

Town Mayor Councillor Alison Davies told a meeting of the full council that the work would be completed with no funding required from the Town Council.

Councillor Estelle Bleivas said she had concerns about visibility for motorists if the area was to become a garden.

“I already have great difficulty seeing traffic coming from that direction when driving out of the Vicarage Car Park,” she said. “I need assurances that visibility will be considered.”
