Scouts offer First Class Xmas service!

14/12/2011 @ 03:06

Welshpool can save money while raise valuable funds for scouting in the town this Christmas through the local group’s innovative Christmas card delivery scheme.

Running until December 20, Scout Post will be operating its delivery service within the town’s boundaries where residents can post their cards at a central location for them to be delivered for just 25p per card.

Scouts have distributed seven post boxes across the town where stamps can be purchased with a guarantee that the card will be delivered on time.

They can be found at Alexander’s on Broad Street, Tints and Tones in Puzzle Sq., Rowlands in Church Street, Cracked Wheat in High Street, Somerfield in Berriew Street, Sainsburys in Jehu Road and Tesco in Mill Lane.

“People wanting to use the post buy special stamps at these shops at 25p each,” explained spokesperson Farrell McManus. “These are then stuck to the envelopes of the cards they want delivered (built up area of Welshpool only) and popped into the scout posting boxes. We collect from these regularly and then sort into rounds, frank them and distribute to a team of volunteers who deliver them. We can’t promise next day delivery but do look to get them delivered as soon as possible.”

The scouts are making a huge effort in 2012 to raise funds for a multi-purpose community centre to be built on the current site of their scout hut.
