“It’s three yes’s Alex”

Welshpool has the opportunity this weekend to find out why Simon Cowell believes the next big thing could be from Montgomeryshire.

Young musician Alex Davies (right) took the recent Britain’s Got Talent audition in Cardiff by storm and received an overwhelming three ‘yes’ verdicts from the judges which included hard-to-please Cowell, who also gave a glowing reference.

Due to contractual restrictions surrounding the show, we can’t report any more details on Alex’s quest for stardom but, this weekend, he is playing live in Welshpool.

Alex, from Newtown, is sharing the bill at the Raven on Saturday night with renowned local singer songwriter Dai Robs who is performing for the first time in his home town with new band The Love.

Dai was a finalist in last year’s Open Mic UK competition at the O2 and believes Alex is set for stardom.

“He has a talent that’s for sure,” said Dai. “He blew away the judges at the audition and I am confident he is set for big things. This could be the last chance you get to see him at an intimate venue like the Raven!”

String the Marionette, who themselves have progressed through an audition for Live and Unsigned, complete the line-up.

The gig gets underway at 8pm and is just £2 to enter.
