Town to flex its muscle for Brooke

21/10/2012 @ 09:45

The Brooke McMahon Appeal is about to receive a helping hand, and it is a hand that will have plenty of muscle behind it.

The town is rallying around the five-year-old in a bid to raise funds and send the cancer sufferer on a dream holiday to Disneyland Paris.

Already more than £1,000 has been raised by friends of the family, and next weekend The Armoury is inviting residents of all shapes and sizes to enter a fun Strongman Competition, with all proceeds going to the cause.

“We were touched to hear of Brooke’s plight and how she is inspiring people so felt we should do something,” said The Armoury’s Chris Greatorex. “We were approached by one of the member’s about doing a competition for her so jumped at the chance and hope to raise some valuable funds.”

There are several categories with a £10 entry fee for competitors.

Rules
The competition will be in bodyweight categories. Under 80kg, under 90kg, under 110kg and the open weight. You will be weighed on the day using the armoury scales.
