Last dash for superfast broadband!

26/02/2013 @ 06:02

Residents from local villages and some parts of Welshpool are making a late online dash for a full grant which will bring internet speeds as quick as 40 mbps to their homes!

Airband Community Internet Ltd has invested heavily in Montgomeryshire over the past 18 months and residents in a number of villages including Guilsfield, Four Crosses, Arddleen and Llanfechain are raving about their new superfast speeds, with one resident calling them “spectacular”.

But time is running out to qualify for the Welsh Government’s Broadband Support Scheme Grant which provides full funding to cover the installation of Airband’s service, which is then as low as £22 per month. It doesn’t need a phone line either so works out cheaper than conventional internet which is crawling out speeds of less than 0.5 mbps.

“Anyone still wishing to benefit will need to submit an application by the end of February to leave time for grant approval and installation,” said Red Peel, MD of Airband UK: “We anticipate a surge of interest in the next few days as residents realise this is their last chance to benefit from the scheme. We have stepped up our back office support and installation teams in readiness for the increased demand and are confident we will meet the deadline for residents applying where we have existing coverage.”

Residents that suffer from speeds of less than 2 mpbs qualify for the grant, so to find out if you qualify and to kick off the simple process, visit http://www.airband.co/powys .

If you live in these villages, you could enjoy Airband's superfast broadband ASAP:

* Guilsfield

* Crew Green

* Arddleen

* Llandrino

* Llanfechain

* Pontrobert

* Pool Quay

* Llanfihangel

* Four Crosses

* Sarnau

* Criggion

* Parts of Welshpool and Llanymynech

EDITOR'S NOTE: For too long, the big communications companies have taken the mickey out of us in rural Montgomeryshire. My home in Guilsfield barely registered on the internet speed test I did through the link (http://www.airband.co/powys) so I qualified for the Welsh Government grant. Airband walked me through the process which was simple. I am now looking forward to finally joining the 21st Century and enjoying some lightning quick speeds so I can upload your news even faster! It also means I can scrap that annoying phone line which has become redundant anyway with the onset of mobile. So not only am I receiving the internet support I need, I will be saving in the pocket too and no longer receiving PPI cold calls... an all round win! But don’t miss out, start your speed tests today.
