Girl Power at Airport

21/05/2015 @ 08:57

Girlguides, Brownies and Rainbows from Welshpool and throughout Montgomeryshire have shown that girl power can raise valuable funds for charity.

The units met up at the Mid Wales Airport near Welshpool to take part in a plane pull to raise money for Girlguiding Cymru and the Wales Air Ambulance.

The plane weighed in at over half a ton but that didn’t put the young fundraisers, aged five years and upwards, off. They worked in teams to pull the plane down the taxi runway.

Welsh Air Ambulance team were on hand and members of the public to cheer all the teams on and during the day, all attending had a chance to see the Welsh Air Ambulance up close and have photos with the Welsh Air Ambulance crew.

Felicity Ladbrook, Chief Commissioner for Girlguiding Cymru, said: “Seeing the girls fundraising for Girlguiding Wales and the Wales Air Ambulance by pulling a plane was fantastic.

“It really proves that girls can do anything they want to.”
