Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng are celebrating plenty of success stories as schools break up for Easter.

The girls’ football, tag rugby and netball teams will be representing Montgomeryshire in Aberystwyth in May after winning both the girls’ football and tag rugby and coming runners up to Buttington Trewern in the netball.

Not to be outdone, the boys were also runners up at the Montgomeryshire football tournament, losing 2-1 in the final against St Michaels, Kerry.

But success also came in the pool with 20 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals at the Caereinion Area Swimming Gala, with most of them going on to the ‘Four Area Gala’ after Easter.

Meanwhile, Seb Loxam (right) was also third in the Welsh Cross Country Championships.

In the middle of all the sporting events, Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng will also be representing Montgomeryshire in four competitions at the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Meifod, also in May.

Evan will be competing in the individual ‘Hip Hop, Street and Disco Dance’, and the Group have also got through to the national finals.

In addition to this, the two-part harmony group and the theatrical performance will also be joining them.

“This is an incredible achievement, and it is due to the hard work of the pupils and staff. Congratulations to you all!” said headteacher, Angharad Davies.

Also, due to the National Urdd Eisteddfod being held at Meifod this year, every child (Year 4-6) in Montgomeryshire had the opportunity to be a part of a theatre production for the opening ceremony called ‘Mela’ with local theatrical legends: Linda Gittins and Penri Roberts.

“Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng have ensured that all pupils in the age bracket are a part of this historical event. Some children auditioned for the Caereinion main parts within the production, we are so proud of Caelan and Libby who have secured both parts - outstanding achievement,” said Ms Davies.
