Full house bingo raises hundreds for school

The Friends of Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School have raised a whopping £756.90 through their Easter Bingo, hosted by children’s entertainer Terri-Ann Ratledge and bunny glasses-wearing bingo caller, Mr Gregory.

Morrisons and Tesco donated eggs prizes and Susan Davies made felt bunny cream egg toppers which were excellent consolation prizes, and also went into the hampers.

A Friends event wouldn’t be the same without guessing games! School teacher Miss Brighouse made an exquisite Easter Cake weighing 4 lbs 7 oz which was won by Mrs Mills who guessed the closest weight.

“We also had a huge jar filled with 773 mini eggs, generously donated by parent Julie Parkes, which was won by staff member Mrs Thomas. Working in a school environment must stand them in good stead for such games,” a spokesperson told us.

Further thanks were given to Greggs who supported by donating a voucher and to Mollies for sweet vouchers.

Once the Bingo games had finished all Bingo books were entered into a draw to win a fabulous Easter Hamper.

The Enterprise Group also held an Auction with 24 lots up for grabs, with huge support from the full house of bidders.

The mystery hamper was auctioned off last and contained over £100 worth of goods and went for £90, with over £600 raised from the auction alone.

“Thank-you all so much for attending our Easter Bingo,” the spokesperson added.

“What a night filled with fun and laughter! A huge thank you to our amazing Friends of Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School who worked so hard to organise the event, even those who were celebrating their birthdays!

“We hope ‘Superman’ helped. Also, to our fantastic Enterprise Group for an amazing auction and finally to our wonderful Bingo Caller - the glasses definitely helped!”
