Severn Trent’s Welshpool apology

07/01/2011 @ 09:29

Severn Trent has issued an apology to more than 300 households who had their water cut off for a longer period than promised Thursday morning.

The water company had warned residents on several estates in the Borfa Green area that essential work would result in their water supplies being off until 6am Thursday morning.

But residents awoke to find that their water was still off by 8.30am, prompting the company to launch an investigation into why it was delayed.

A Severn Trent Spokesperson said: “As part of planned mains renewal works 300 customers had their water turned off over night. The water should have returned to all the customers at 6am, unfortunately the pressure took longer than usual to reach normal levels. We apologise to our customers who were left without water and we are looking into why this happened.”

One parent said: "It was a good job the high school was closed in the end because we couldnt get our children washed anyway. We could even use the toilet."

However the company has not said whether customers would be entitled to any compensation.
