If you are a commuter or shopper in Welshpool and pay for parking... take a deep breath before you read on.
That is because the price of a year’s parking permit in a council car park has shot up once again, and is now more than double what you paid two years ago.
And with the free Tesco parking no longer an option, you have got no choice but to cough up.
Cabinet Member for Highways, Councillor John Brunt said: “The increase in car parking permits have been kept to a minimum following agreement last year that these would be brought in over a three-year period.
“These permits are available for one month, three, six and twelve months and represent considerable value against daily ticket purchases.”
In 2014 the cost of a year’s parking was just £150, but was put up to £225 for 2015 and then to £275 for the year ending last month. Now, the new permits will cost motorists £325.
The increase will come into play this month (May).
